A recent graduate of Three Dimensional Design at Manchester school of Art, Joe's practice is centred around material and process experimentation. Direct contact with materials and exploring various processes has allowed him to build an understanding of their properties and limitations, which in turn allows for an innovative and experimental approach designing and making.

'An object that is developed in response to the process in which it is made will often result in a unique end product that catches attention and raises questions amongst viewers. This however does not mean I do not value an outcome driven approach: sketching, modelling, and the use of CAD remain essential skills my toolbox. Depending on the brief it is vital to be able to adapt and execute an approach that best suits the task.'

A successful degree show saw Joe win The Bluecoats Display Centre award, consisting of a month long solo window display at The Bluecoats in Liverpool in March 2019, as well as an invite to display as an Emerging Artist at the 2018 Great Northern Contemporary Craft fair.

Subsequently Joe exhibited at New Designers where he received a 'One to Watch' award, presented by Marianne Shillingford the creative director of Dulux, and was also Spotted by New Designers and asked to apply for New Designers: One Year In.
